Morning: Want and Need
PENNY TRUETT describes an unforgettable scene while handing out food at the Baptist church in Maralal, Kenya. “Greed overtook some people who grabbed and pushed, (while) others sat in the dirt with their plastic cups and bags and winnowed the remains in the hopes that it might be enough to make a meal. I couldn’t see how such a little amount could make a difference to anyone, but I suppose that is the difference between want and need. Hunger isn’t the only problem here. The elderly, widowed, and orphaned also suffer along with people wasting away from HIV/AIDS. Pray for our ministry among the Samburu people.” Southern Baptists like Penny have been ministering to AIDS victims in Africa since the 1980s, thanks to support from churches like yours working together through CP. The people of Kenya need our continued support and prayers. Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain [did]. By this he was approved as a righteous man, because God approved his gifts, and even though he is dead, he still speaks through this.

Evening: Eskimo Villages north of the Arctic Circle
>b>JOHN and TERRI FORRESTER are North American missionaries serving in the Arctic of Alaska. John is a Church Starter Strategist who works with five Eskimo villages north of the Arctic Circle where temperatures sometime fall to 40 - 60 below zero in the winter. Our belief in and support through the Cooperative Program (CP) help John as he works to strengthen five churches and missions where the Eskimo people live and also to plant new congregations. As you go through your week, pray for John and his associates as they endure the harsh climate and conditions and work to develop indigenous leaders to one day take over the work in the Arctic. STATEMENT:Abel gave because he had faith in God. Even his death signaled victory. He became an example of faith for the new Israel, the church. Our giving demonstrates our faith and presents an example of faith for others.
